Solo travel is on the rise, with more travelers seeking independence and cultural immersion. According to a new report by Kensington, a private luxury travel service, India will be the top destination for solo travelers in 2025.
Securing an international driver’s permit is essential for those planning to drive in India.
The report analyzed data from Kensington’s 2024 bookings and external surveys. Findings show that affluent travelers increasingly prioritize destinations with rich history, diverse landscapes, and seamless, personalized experiences. India checks all these boxes.
India’s top-tier accommodations, renowned wellness retreats, and deep cultural significance make it a prime choice. Solo travelers can explore at their own pace while benefiting from expert guidance and curated itineraries.
Egypt and Thailand followed closely behind, ranking fourth and fifth. These destinations offer a mix of cultural heritage, spiritual experiences, and warm hospitality. Other top spots included Italy, Japan, Australia, and Spain.
The report also highlighted the resurgence of solo travel post-pandemic. Kensington’s Affluent Traveler Survey revealed that 76% of respondents are open to international solo trips within the next three years. Many expressed increased interest in independent travel.
