Wynn Resorts has secured the UAE’s first-ever commercial gaming license . The announcement came from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) on Saturday, confirming that the Las Vegas-based casino giant will operate the first integrated gaming resort in the Middle East and North Africa region. The resort, named Wynn Al Marjan Island, is set to open to the public in early 2027 .
The multi-billion-dollar project will be built on a 62-hectare island in Ras Al Khaimah. The resort will feature both gaming and non-gaming facilities, including 1,542 rooms and suites, and 22 private villa estates. Wynn Al Marjan Island will also be the first Wynn property located on a beach.
The GCGRA provided no further details about the license, but Wynn Resorts issued a statement thanking the authority for its confidence. The gaming license is part of a joint venture between Wynn Resorts, Marjan, and RAK Hospitality Holding. This is the second license issued by the GCGRA, which had previously licensed the first authorized lottery in the country in July.
Construction of the Wynn resort began in early 2023 , with a 300-metre-tall tower expected to be completed by late 2025.
